Fritz Chess 9 Review

You see, the problem with chess games is that there really isn’t anything new they can bring to the fold that hasn’t been done a million times before. This hasn’t deterred the makers of Fritz Chess 9 who tried to cater for everyone from the novice right up to the most advanced of players.

The engine behind the game has been improved, and looks good, it’s just unfortunate that Chess really isn’t that exciting a game. Sure, Fritz Chess is an accurate portrayal of the game, but most people simply aren’t going to get very excited about a chess simulator. Should you so wish you can play the game in either a 3D, or top down view and there’s even a coach on hand to point out any mistakes you make in your game and recommend cunning strategies to defeat your opponent with. For those of you new to chess you can also play through the video tutorials, which will either bore you to tears or provide a good, solid base to learn from – depending on your viewpoint.

And that, as they say, is pretty much that. If you’re after something to help you develop your chess skills then you really can’t go far wrong. If you’re after something to entertain you for a couple of hours until the football starts then there really are far better options out there.
