Star Wars Jedi Power Battles GBA Review

The Trade Federation are after you, taking control of one of three characters from the first Star Wars film you must battle though an assortment of levels to see if you to can defeat the dark side and become a true Jedi.

The game will take you from the decks of the Trade Federation ship, through Naboo, Theed and Tatooine and follows pretty much the same story as the film so those of you familiar with the film will be right at home here. Along the way you must defeat all sorts of different enemies including the droids of the Trade Federation, thugs and eventually even Darth Maul himself.

The game features 10 levels that vary in difficulty, although it took us ages to figure out how to do a certain part of the first level, but that may just be down to us not being very good. The controls of the game are fairly easy to get hold of and the game makes use of all the buttons on the GBA so you can produce some fairly varied moves when required. A button attacks, whilst a quick double press of the button produces your chosen characters special move whilst pressing B jumps and likewise a double press will produce a force jump. Finally, the R button produces a block with your lightsaber and and L produces your power attack.

Throughout the levels there are various power-ups scattered around which you can pick up and can prove very helpful sometimes. The graphics take some getting used to as they are quite small but the levels themselves are quite large and take quite a while to play through and the animations of the characters are actually very good and smooth.

The sound in the game is also quite good and a lot of the sound effects from the films are reproduced as well as a small section of the musical score which helps give the game a very authentic feel to it.

So, it's final paragraph time again. Well, it's a not a must-buy by any means, but it is quite fun to play through and let's face it, it's Star Wars so it can't really go wrong can it? Buy it and you won't be disappointed but if you don't it won't be a game that you miss.
