This is similar to the scene in "Raiders of the lost Ark" where Indiana Jones uses a staff with a crystal to lead a beam of light to show the exact place to dig.
#8 Phatt Island, Gambler's club. If you guess the password correctly for Bruno then you will be told that he doesn't recognise you. you can say "I was transferred here today, new orders". Indy says the same thing in the Last Crusade".
#9 The line "I'm selling these fine leather jackets" is originally from the game Indiana Jones and the last crusade, but has been used in almost every LucasArts games since then. To the guard at Elaine's carnival Guybrush can say "I'm selling this fine mouthwash" and to the gardener he can say "I'm selling these fine pink dresses".
#10 When you try to get the map piece from Elaine's mansion, you hear the gardener calling the dog "Guybrush". Then Guybrush says : "She named the dog Guybrush!?!?" This is a reference to Indiana Jones because he was named after his dog.

#3 If you say to Governor Phatt that his mansion must have cost a lot, he will then say that he made a deal to keep the bill collectors out forever - he's giving you to LeChuck. This is a reference to "Star Wars: The Empire strikes back", where Lando mentions that he has made a deal to keep the Empire out of Cloud City forever - he gives Han Solo, Leia, and Chewie to Darth Vader.
#4 When Guybrush leaves the governor's mansion, Elaine's dog starts barking at him and he says: "What's wrong boy? Smell something?" In "Star Wars: The empire strikes back" Luke Skywalker says "Hey, steady girl. Hey, what's the matter? You smell something?" on Hoth right before the Wampa appears.

looking at?"

man will say "What are YOU looking at ?"
The citizen says the same thing.
LucasArts Hints Line
#1 In the forest on Dinky Island you can find a telephone and call The LucasFilm
Games Hint Line.
You can ask different questions, but you don't really get an answer.
LucasFilm Games changed its name to LucasArts, but Chester (the hint line
operator) still says LucasFilm Games even though there's a LucasArts poster
behind her.
The phone number is 1-900-740-JEDI and it's actually the real number for LucasArts'
hint line and the word JEDI is, of course, a reference to the Star Wars movies.

Zippy the Pinhead
#1 If you look at the mask in the antique store on Booty Island, the storekeeper will say it looks like Spiffy the Pinhead. This is a reference to the comic strip "Zippy the Pinhead" drawn by Bill Griffith. Spiffy is the name of the dog in the Scumm Bar in Monkey Island 1.
