Monkey
Island 4
Characters
Guybrush Threepwood
Guybrush starts off EFMI running a legal errand for his wife, Elaine Marley.
However, it soon develops into a devious plot involving Australians, monkeys
and the Ultimate Insult. Plus he tends to get beaten up by Mrs. Threepwood.
A lot.
Elaine Marley Threepwood:
Guybrush's first love and current wife, Governor Elaine Marley Threepwood.
In The Secret of Monkey Island Elaine first met Guybrush when he happened
to sneak into her house. She may have had a thing for him right then and there
though because she bailed him out. Unfortunatly our favorite pirate Guybrush
wasn't too quick on his feet with words, and he ruined Elaine's first impression
of him when he insulted her.
Elaine
later went on to not only govern Meleé Island, but also Plunder Island and Booty
Island. In the most recent Monkey Island game, The Curse of Monkey Island, Elaine
played an important role being that she was what Guybrush was trying to save,
but her role was limited because she was turned to gold and didn't speak much
throughout the game. One characteristic of Elaine that we are sure to see in
Escape from Monkey Island is her crazy mood swings. In each of the games prior,
Elaine also never talked directly to Guybrush except for in Cutscenes. This
is expected to change in EMI.
Le Chuck
Only Darth Vader strikes more fear in the hearts of people who are around
his presence. Just by walking into a room, the evil, demonic, Ghost Pirate
Captain LeChuck can change the tone of everyone around. LeChuck, like Guybrush,
also is in love with Elaine.
The
only difference between LeChuck and Guybrush is that LeChuck doesn't care whether
Elaine likes him or not. LeChuck tried to kidnap Elaine on more then one occasion,
he tried to buy her love, and he even brought her to the alter in a chapel once
hoping he'd get his way. As LeChuck progressed from The Secret of Monkey Island
to The Curse of Monkey Island, he became quite scarier everytime. LeChuck still
had the funny villian look to him in the first three games, but in the early
screenshots of Escape from Monkey Island, LeChuck looks significantly more scary.
On your left, you see a picture of Charles L. Charles. Charles seems to have
an akward connection to LeChuck. Escape from Monkey Island brings it to our
attention that Charles plans to take over the vacant spot of Govenor on Melee
Island by offering Grog to everyone! My only question is, how can those little
legs hold that massive guy ;).

Ozzie Mandrill
An Australian land developer who is taking land from pirates in the Tri-Island
area via Insult fights; arm-wrestles, sword-fights, anything - and converting
the land into mass-market tourist-friendly money-spinning franchises.
Herman Toothrot
The hermit who turns up in the strangest of locations: be it the mystery-drenched
shores of Monkey Island or the whooping big beach of Dinky Island - always
willing to help in return for conversation. Has a beard. Wears no pants.
