Hello,
When I tried to show/give two ensembled pieces of the ulimate insult to the puppeteer the game froze. The two puppets continue their conversation and the game can be saved BUTT Guybrush cannot move nor can he use his inventory. If someone has a suggestion please help, otherwise I have to go back to school, follow the stupid parrots and re-enter the diving competion again.

Try holding the "." or "Delete" key to skip all the conversation. It could be part of a conversational cutscene.

I am at the bit where Guybrush has to entice the fluorescent fish underwater in to the scupper ware using the free bait from the shop so he can see his way. However when I made up the perfume using the bait I didn't put any into the scupper ware and I cannot now get any more free.
What can I do? Can anyone help?

You either haven't used the fish on the perfume, you already
have one in your inventory for use, or(doubtedly), you have to finish using
the Pegnose Pete
Scented Perfume.

You obviously don't have a full crew yet. Beat I. Cheese in
Insult Arm Wrestling in the SCUMM Bar. In the governor's mansion, there are
two papers you can pick up: Government Employment Contract, and the
Cushy Edition. Pick up the Cushy Government Employment Contract and give it
to Elaine, she'll sign it. Go to the two familiar looking pirates (Carla and
Otis) and talk to them until you can find a way to convince them to be part
of your crew. Say, "Cushy government jobs" and then give the signed
contract to them. If you haven't already bought the ship, then talk to the
harbor Mistress until she says you don't have the proper authority and go
back to Elaine and say you're having trouble getting a ship, you don't have
the authority. She'll give you the seal. Use it on the harbor mistress and
you'll get the ship.

When at the island where the pirate trasnformation school is, i pull the fire alarm and went in and nicked the toys from the chest, however when i did this for the forth time, and miss rivers comes back in i was standing near the door and she comes in walks into me and just keeps on walking, i cannot do anything now i cannot get into my inventory or leave the school, i have tried restarting my computer and re loading monkey island 4 but she just keeps walking forward when i am in the way!! please help 'cause it has taken a long time to get up to here many thanx chris reeder

Try pressing "O" not zero, but "O". It automatically lets you leave a room or land mass. If that doesn't work then try looking at and using everything.

Hello there. I just bought my new "escape from monkeyisland4" and in the beginning almost everything worked fine. But.....I am know stuck on Lucre island. I have tried everything. When i reach the swamb, I follow the directions of the paper which says: 12:15 N, 12:30 W, 1:15 N, 1:50 E, 2:20 S, 2:50 E, 2:55 W, 3:15 W. When I am about to start my "journey" in the swamb the clock stands at 3:15 W, so I move to the West/left. Then the clock says 2:55 W, so I continue sailing to the west/left, but then the clock dosn't fit any longer with any of the given hours, and then I sail around here and there, and I finally reach a gate. Then it says: Open gate, and I try but it is locked. I have tried to use all of the things from the inventory, and also the "......of nature" man/thing, which Guybrush has created, but nothing seems to work. What the F... am I supposed to do? Sorry if my english suck, but i'm from Denmark....(that may be the reason why I can't figure it out). Well, I really hope you are able to help me. Hugs from Anne.

Make sure you are reading the clock correctly. You could have made a wrong turn somewhere.

hi!!! I'm trying to make the parfume but I've already picked up the wood shavings and flower so I can't include them in the mixture. I don't know how to drop them....can u help!?! Also, how do I get the clock from the chess people???

If you press the "use" button in your inventory, then you can combine items you already have. To get the clock, talk to the chubby player and say something to get his attention. After that, say something near the bottom that would throw his attention away from the game like "Oh no! A spider!" He will say, "What? Where?" If you say it to him while he is holding one of his pieces, he will drop it and the other player will mock him. Talk to the fat guy again and mention that the other guy is really focused on the game. He will bring up Brittany. Talk to the other player and do the same thing for him as the fat guy, except mention Brittany. They will start to insult each other and you can pick up the clock while they're distracted.

Hope this is the right place to send this question concerning
monkey island 4. i have managed ,in act 1, to spray the kangeroo,put termites
on mandrills stick, seen sawdust on the shop floor. But when I get back to
the mansion the dialogue does not come up with any mention of 'the loot'.
What have I missed?

You cannot bring up "The Loot" because you have to eavesdrop on Ozzy and Pegnose at Pegnose's house first. Before then, Guybrush doesn't know anything about Pegnose's underground place.

Help required please on Monkey Island 4.
Im stuck on Lucre Island. I've captured pegnose pete, and am trying
to spray cologne on an animal in Mandrills mansion. I think its the Kangaroo
im supposed to spray, but whatever I spray, nothing happens. I've even checked
walkthroughs to see what im missing and dont appear to have doen anything
wrong.
I've also had trouble getting bait into the scupperware, the bait shop owner
says I already have some (in the cologne) and its one lot per customer.

Solution
In Mandrill's house, you can spray the cologne on anything on
display. It cannot be the Pegnose Pete Scented Perfume though, it has to be
Eau de LeChuck which can be picked up at the annoying perfume spraying guy's
counter. The bait guy says only one fish per customer because you either haven't
put the fish in the spray, you have a fish in your inventory, or you already
put a fish in the spray and Scupperware

ive been following a step by step walkthrough for escape from monkey island
(as some of the thigs are ridicolously hard!) howether im stuck trying to
get the statue at the diving competition i follow exactly what the other guy
does and i wear the dunce cap but still can not get 3 10's! if you have any
advice or tips please post them on your site.

Go to Stan's Timeshare and pick up one of the free brochures on his desk. Guybrush will say that it is a couple that he has never seen before, but if you talk to the grumpy judge with the black shirt, then Guybrush will recognize him as the guy with the lady in the brochure. Show the brochure to the grumpy judge and he will give you a 10 every time.

I need your help with Monkey Island 4. I am stuck on Lucre Island at the part where I have to use the scupperware with the bait in it in the water to attract the fish. I have tried it on the shallow, not so shallow and deep water but whenever I try to use it, it says 'I already have something in there'. Can anyone help me please? Thanks

It's because guybrush need to be in the water when "using" the
scrubberware... simply just "use" the deep water, he jumps in and
then open
the scrubber ware :-)

I am playing Escape from Monkey Island and I am at the part where Guybrush needs to put the grog in the steam generator. I have tried this about 10 times and each time the grog goes in but I don't get the painting, all that happens is Guybrush stands there with a half empty can of grog. I have tried running into the kitchen as fast as I can and pouring it in as fast as I can - but it never works!! Help me please!

You have to order the special flaming fish ( or something with flaming, anyway) and you wait until the flaming boat is under the painting. ( WARNING: it has to be UNDER the painting) and then do the grog thing. the painting will melt, and the "SACRE BLU!!" guy will come rushing in, be dissapointed, and give you the map. There is an even harder task after that, so be warned.

Hi, I'm having some trouble playing Monkey Island 4. At first half the text of people was invisible. I reinstalled the drivers like you suggested, and fixed that problem. But now when I get to the second island there is no background, foreground, characters, anything...All I see is what looks like a poorly drawn island hut and a floating sign that says default. HELP!!!

hi, when i get to the swamp, guybrush talks to me and gives me 3 objects, then i ask him what number i am thinking of and the other guybrush gets it right, then he says "open the gate", so i do and then i get swallowed up by this big hole then it restarts again, how do i get to pegnose petes house? i am really puzzled??

When guybrush (from the future) speaks to you, write down (Exactly) everything that happens. then when you are on the other side, replay what happened before (With roles reversed)

I hope I'm writing to the right place. I am playing MI 4 and have come to a standstill. I am trying to get the gubernatiorial symbol. Elaine will not only NOT give it to me, she won't even talk about it! Seriously, I have started the game 4 times now thinking I'd either missed something or did something out of order. Well.......I went to your walkthrough and still I can't obtain it. I have left nothing out, and yet when I try to talk to her all I get is the line "Nah, I think there's something in our marriage vows about that" Over and over. I have talked to both the ex-partners and the harbormaster. She said I needed the "authority". I've done it all! Why won't this work, it's driving me nutz! Please, can you help me figure this out? I can't imagine it being a program glitch, but what else am I to think? Deb

Are you making sure you have the right contract (the cushy one) in your hand at the time? That is located over by the window on a shelf. She will not give it to you if you give her the standard contract that is on the table where she is standing...

In MI4 I can't get past Act 2 because the parrots won't tell me which rock the hat is under, I got one of them drunk but no walkthroughs are working.

Just got through this part last night. OK, so you got only one parrot drunk, right? Now Guybrush tells them apart for you. At the boulder ask one parrot if the hat is under this boulder. You will find out that it is not based on his response to the parrot. The drunk parrot will always hiccup when answering. In my case, he was the truth telling parrot. Basically, I had to go east, east, east, on and on until we were just past the pirate ship. Then the drunk parrot answered the boulder question with, "Yes, of course it is!". I used the puppets and they squabbled until that pirate in the ship thought that three pirates were gathering. He cannonballed the boulder and I got the hat. Does that help? If all games are the same, you just go east for quite a bit (to the right). Carol in NH, USA

I am on Boulder Beach and have tried numerous times to get the pirate to talk about his fathers hat, but he doesn't want to talk about anything to do with his father, any ideas on what im doing wrong? Im having some major technical difficulty running monkey island 4 and was wondering if you could help?
Ive installed the program but when it comes to playing it the graphics are terrible, you cant read any of the writing and cant really see whats going on around at all, you can hear him talk but thats about it. Ive tried reinstlling it 3 times I dont know where Im going wrong. Please Please help!

On Nuttin Atoll off Jambalaya Island when I talk to
the nice teacher-lady she invites me to sign up at the school. When I enter
she begins to speak and after the words
'...above all productive members of society'
the game shuts down and returns to the desktop. No error signs come up or
anything.
I have tried;
i) saving the game just before the error occurs (it always occurs at the same
time)
ii) pressing delete to skip thru the conversation
iii) trying putting patches on the program
none of it worked though.
Any ideas cause I am so stuck!

I have an interesting problem. When i open the main menu during gameplay (before the game it works fine) the game freezes up, and i cant even use ctrl-alt-del to force quit. In other words, i cant save. Once, i managed to sucessfully open the menu and save a game but it hasnt worked since. Also, the same problem occured when the directions to the Peg Nose pirate came on the screen. The Game also froze when the "do you want to quit" box was opened. I find this interesting becuase all three of these boxs have the same bacground picture behind the map (i think is a map or something). I dont know what to do. I dowloaded the patch and it didnt fix it.

Hello, i just discover how to make herman remerber things when we have throw a little to much. This is not a little bug. All you have to do is throw the coconut again, first he keep his eyes close. and he say :"where", when you call him. The trick? throw him the coconut again two times, and notice, he say something different. just throw a another time and he finally remerber. speak with him check if he say something new. Then you throw the milk bottle. You have to do the same thing you have do with themilk bottle. He have to have his eyes open right after he receive the thing you throwing to him, when he remenber. Hi, In Escape from Monkey Island, when the music box is playing then walk to the basket with the wooden hand, if it is not selected but is in the list of commands then use the page up and page down keys to select the correct command from the list. He should then take the wooden hand. Hope this helps. Alan

I have managed to follow him to the beginning of the jungle but I've had to start again as every time I try and spray the perfume on the kangaroo he says it is for a close group of people. Go to the perfume stand in the town and pick up the other perfume (cant remember name right now). Spray that on the kangaroo. Also, after he breaks his stick use the termites with his stick in the repair shop. This will give a nice trail to follow. Hope this helps Nick

The game appears to have installed and is working correctly, but the display is extremely dark and very difficult to define, especially in the Scum Bar scene. Hi I've played Monkey 4 twice from the start through to the hand over of the Loot / Pegnose Petes nose screw. Each time I have given the screw to Inspector Canard he has told me that it wont hold up in court unless I have the Actual Prostetic Nose. Any ideas?

Get into the bank by bouncing through the upper window using the skin prosthesis on the manhole, turn on the lights and examine some weird looking shadows on the left side of the upper storey. Canard will take the nose off you. Hope this will help... Jez

I use the music box and all but it's just getting the hand selected. It only selects the porceline leg . How do i select the wooden hand. Please help it's really frustrating.

When I try to enter the lawyer's house, the game simply crashes (Access violation). Every time I try, it does. Exactly the same thing happens on different computers, with or without the 1.1 patch. I have also tried reinstalling (both full install and the other options). I do not have the opportunity to try it on Windows 98, but according to LucasArts' homepage, Win2000 should be fine. Any help would be appreciated, since there is really no other way to proceed in the game. There seems to be no problem with the CD itself. I could copy the whole contents to the hard disk without problems.

How can I aim guybrush to the Prothestic hand? The porcelain leg is blocking my way and if I'll ry to spin then I won't zoom on the basket!

I can now give you the answer. I'd missed the fact that you can select the options offered by using the 'Page Up' and 'Page Down' keys as well as by turning left or right. If you try turning left or right, it closes the close up view of the basket. If you press the 'Page Down' key, you can then pick up the hand.

im stuck on trying to get the monkey mug, cos i got the token and got the mug but wen i stood up the waitress took it off me. i tried gettin another token from the groggery but the bartender says "only one per customer" (or something like that). please help me!

You get one ticket from Stan you have to use the cappuccino to stay awake though. So make sure you get the cup from cafe and refill it. You'll have to do this twice in the game. You get the other ticket in the bar. Ride the mechanical bull thing, and use the glue to stay on. You will get another ticket, then when you leave the bar there will also be a whole barrel of tickets there.

Hi! It's great site you've got here! I've only got one problem with it! I've been playing Monkey Island 4 for ages now and I finally got to what I think is one of the final cut scenes (Where you are going to use the mechanical monkey against the Le Chuck Statue). Just as I was about to see what was going to happen the game crashed and I hadn't saved since before the monkey kombat bit of the game! Anyway, I don't think I could do this bit of the game again without smashing my PC to bits! This brings me to my point! I came to your site to download your save at the end of act 3, but to my horror it is no longer hosted on the server! So, I was hoping that you could either get the server to re-host it, to if that isn't possible that you could just send me a copy of the save. Thanks in advance, Scott

Hi The game now works fine for me. I replaced the 3dfx driver for my card with the drivers from diamond (I have a diamond monster fusion card) and now it works fine. (except some other games work better with the 3dfx drivers :/ ). If you have the same card you could try this. I got the drivers from www.diamondmm.com. Cya.

If you by any chance are able to help with a EMI sound problem I w/b tremendously grateful. All sound from the beginning intro screen is terribly broken up making the game unplayable (a major dissapointment for my family). System: Athlon 1300 mz processor, Win98, DirectX 8, Voodoo 3 3000 w/latest drivers, 3D sound is built into motherboard and is the VIA686B. Motherboard is FIC AZ11E and chipset is VIA Apollo KT133. I have the latest drivers for the VIA sound. I've set my screen resolution to 16 bit color, and have also selected the EMI option "force 16 bit color". Thanks, Keith Gant

Yes, I had downloaded the latest 4 in 1 Via drivers. After trying everything else, I finally solved my problem with MI4 sound by reinstalling Wndows 98. I don't know what was different, but after the reinstall, the sound worked great and has caused no problems since.

You make him aim at something and press Enter.(to aim you turn round until you have some options at the bottom and you can press page up or page down.) To complete the first part try and find the loaded cannon and pick up some red hot coal's and fire it at the loaded cannon. Good Luck. Shaun

First you press U on the brazer thing then press + or p to pick up the coal and turn round to face the loaded cannon. Press page down until you get to the sentence (at the bottom) that says "use lump of coal with loaded cannon and press U. There you go! DONE!

I know the what the pictures mean on the thing with the red button in palace of prothesses (whatever it is) but when you look for the pegnose man on the little thing (with red button) it does not work beacause he's only got 2 names and theres 3 dials. Can you help? Plus how do you get the water out of the fountain, AND how do you get the swamp stuff from the swamp? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

in response to the guy having problems obtaining swamp water, fountain water, and retrieving pegnose pete's prosthetic file... approach the fountain in lucre town from the left side, not from where brittany is standing, while holding the empty spray bottle. at the swamp, face the puddle in the lower lefthand corner while holding the spray bottle (after you've gotten fountain water) ... i dunno what could be going wrong there.

Hi! I am having a problem when palying MI4 with my computer locking up. It's random when it does, and I have to completely reboot the whole computer by shutting it off and then back on. It's very difficult to complete the game. Any help would be GREAETLY appreciated! Kevin

in the walkthrough (which i only use in emergencies, and thank you for it!!!), it says yo need to show Little leChuck an insult map. what is this and where do you get it!? i tried to show him the blue painting, but guybrush said "I am sure he would enjoy this if he wasn't a PUPPET!!!" so i dont think that is it.

Tell Kate that you dont show the blue painting to the little Le Chuck puppet you ask the little le chuck puppet if he's really whoever then where has he been for the last 80 years and then the guybrush puppet will appear. Then u ask to speak to the puppeteer a few times and then show the painting to the puppeteer

You have to show the insult map, also known as the blue painting, to the puppeteer, and not the guybrush puppet. the puppeteer will come up to talk to you if you ask to talk to him. show him the blue painting, and he will run away.

Hello, You need to look at the other side of the room and find the contract for the cushy gov. job and get it signed. Hope this helps

You need 2 contracts from the government mansion. Both of them must be signed, and the cushy one must be offered to Carla & Otis. Perhaps you already found out, but otherwise good luck with this hint.
OR
OK. What you need to make sure is that you have got the right contract - there are two in the Governor's mansion, one of which is tagged 'government job contract' and the other 'cushy government job contract'. Otis and Carla will accept the cushy edition but not the other one. Hope this helps.

To get Otis and Carla on your crew, you have to offer them the cushy govt jobs contract, and NOT the manual labour contract. the manual labour one is found on the table Elaine uses, while the cushy edition is found on this table on the other end of the room, where all the china and porcelain pieces are displayed.

I don't seem to be able to get past the lava field. I have read the walkthrough but am obviously missing the point. I have collected the weed strimmer thing and know that I have to trim some weeds somewhere but can't find them. I have directed my log to go towards the boulder but there is nothing there that I can interact with.

I have problems in EFMI. I am on the boulder beach and found the one with the hat under it. The two parrots are still sitting on the rock. I want to use the puppets, but everytime I use them, Guybrush puts them away because he is afraid to be shot at. But that's the whole point, isn't it? I want the boulder to be shot to pieces so I can take the hat. Or am I missing something?

Answer to the question of the rock where he's too scared to pull the puppets out,, the parrots shouldnt still be on the screen when he goes to do this. He should walk back to the beach and the two parrots will be back on the pirates shoulder, this is the way I have just completed it.
OR
I found answer to this problem as I was desprately searching for it yesterday. Gaybrush must find out which parrot is telling the truth with some simple question first, then the puppet thing would work. So before starting looking for the right boulder find out which parrot is the truth-telling one.

my game locks up when i try to use the abomination near the gate in the swamp. It flys off to the left, and then I cant move or use inventory. If I reload a saved game, all is ok.

I had the same problem but it isn't crashing. You just have to wait for age's because the Abomination is just going all the way around the swamp so it's NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!!! from Shaun.

I've found some problems that I was able to figure out, like when the talking sound never work all I did was save when talking to someone... it worked. But there's only one bug I've never been able to get over, it's when to someone your responce diolog never comes up (it's invisible, but they seem to be there because when you move down there's diferent responces) this was really hard when in the school the diolog never came up & I had to guess where the answer was. This happened with the dart guys, voodoo ladie, guy in the store where you got the fleas, school teacher, some items uses never came up, please help...

You cannot get rid of the caricature. You just need to get hold of the monkey cup, and get him to draw you another one. It can be done, as I did the same thing
OR
I've just been stuck on the charicture problem myself. You have to have ordered your drink and be sat down with the mug in fron of you. Dont try to leave with it, talk to the jolly pirate and he'll eventually draw another charicture for you.

Stuck again! We have found the fake arm, gotten the termites, put them on the Aussie's walking stick. Sprayed the stuffed animal on the left of the Aussie, gotten a reaction from him. Found the map of the myst. Gone to the myst and found the gate,but don't know how to open the gate. Got the clock from the two playing chess. Spoken again to everyone, but still don't know how to procede next. Should we just leave the music box behind or keep it? Is there a need for the manhole cover we are carrying that as well. And the duck. Are we missing something here? There does not seem to be a logical progression. Can you help? Thanks, Kathy

You need to make a perfume in the empty spritzer using a fish, wood shavings, swamp puddle water, fountain water and a flower outside Ozzie's house. Go to deadeye Dave and spray the Home made perfume over him, he will tell you a name, it's different every time. Go to the filing retreival system on the counter and using the first three letters of the name your given (e.g. Guybrush.U.Threepwood=G.U.T.) find the file you need using this code,
Bunny : A - D
Tree : E - H
Pumpkin : I - M
Monkey : N - T
Banana : U - Z
when you have the directions you go back to the swamp and use the clock on the raft. Next I reccomend you assign the directions to a number so you don't have to keep on stopping the raft to look at the directions. See the clock in the right hand corner. If you look @ the directions then you will see one digital set of numbers corresponds with the time on the clock. Next to each digital number is a letter (N,W,S,E). I won't in sult your intelligence by explaining that puzzle. Follow the directions till you get to the gate. A future Guybrush will ask you for help. He will give you stuff. Remember the order he gives you the items and also what he says when you ask him about the skeleton key. Talk to him once and remember the number(you can also shoot him with the gun if he gives you it, but this will cause a paradox). Open the gate with the skeleton key and you will let guybrush through. follow more directions using clock. When you get to the gate give items back to future guybrush in exactly the same order and say exactly wot he said.when your'e done follow two more directions and you'll be at Pegnose Pete's house. Listen to conversation. Spread chicken grease on doormat and use duck with window. watch fireworks.

P.S. You don't need the music box after you get the fake arm, but if you look at the manhole cover you can get some names which allow you to get a free prostethic skin from Deadeye Dave. Use this to get into the bank by using the skin on the manhole. In there you get a prostethic nose.

Hi, I'm having trouble with getting the parrots to tell me where the hat is. When I try talking to the Pirate about his father, Guybrush just says something about it being too sensative a subject. And if I go to the rocks and call the parrots over all I can say to them is, Pretty Polly, LeChuck sucks, never mind, or ask a question to see if they are telling the truth, i have tried giving one of them the grog, truthful parrot, but it didn't work, I was only allowed to say the same things, how do i get to ask them where the hat is? What you have to do is to look at the statue and the writing bit on it and talk to the man near the statue in Jambwella island (I don't know how its spelt) about EVERYTHING!!! Then go back to the shanty town. Now to get the puppets talk to the the mean puppet (at the puppet show) until you get to speak to Guybrush (THE ONE AT PUPPET SHOW NOT THE GUYBRUSH YOU ARE MOVING AROUND). Ask him to talk to the puppeteer. He will say no. Keep begging him until you do. Show the pupeteer the ultimate insult pictures (on the portrait) and he will run off. Pick up the puppets. Now go and speak to the fat guy ( with the parrots on his shoulder) you will find out that the man who is lobbing balls only hits you if he finds out there are 3 pirates together. NOW talk about his farther ABOUT EVERYTHING. Now go to the rocks blow the whistle from the teachers room and the parrots will come. Give ONE the light grog. Now you will notice that the one who you gave the light grog is moving all the time (because he's drunk). Now find out witch parrot is telling the truth. BEFORE you do this speak to the fat guy about the parrots. ask one of them whats 1+1 or something like that. now remember if the one that's telling the truth is moving all the time or not. Now ask the truthel parrot if tiny lafeet's hat is under the rock or not. If not ask what the directions are to the hat. Go that way. Now blow the whistle and do it all over again...4 hours later. the parrot says yes the hat is under this rock. rYou DO NOT have to give the parrots the grog every time. BUT REMEMBER always ask the truthel parrot the question about the hat(you can tell whick one tells the truth by looking witch ones drunk and the other is not). When you find the right one use the puppets on the rock. Now make a fight between the evil puppet and the nice one. SIT BACK AND WATCH. now pick up the hat. I'm stuck near too the beginning. I've thrown all three boulders but only 2 of them come out. The first lands on the beach and the second in the canyon. What should I do?

Ross, First you must pick up a rock and chuck it into the right hand channel, wait until the boulder makes the right hand root shake and throw another boulder into the middle channel,wait until the boulder shakes the middle root and chuck another boulder into the left hand channel, wait until the last unshook root is shook and chuck another boulder into the left hand channel and sit back. You must make sure you chuck the boulders at the exact same time as the tree root shakes. Hope this helps ya! Paul

he says he doesn't have a keyhole. What can we do?

Hello! Actually we like to do it ourselves and only refer to the walkthrough when we have a real problem. So we had caused a paradox several times before that, and perhaps that made the gate land upside-down. So we restarted and easily got through the gate. Just to let you know we had overcome the problem. Thanks!

Hi, I have just gotten this game for my grandchildren. We have enlisted the fellow at the card table by out insulting him. We have found the tire and the pretzels. We have found the person in the house that give the clue "what come up must come down". We have fed the pirate lobbing the boulder at the house a pretzel and tinkered with the catapult. We have sort of figured that the tire goes on the cactus and maybe the empty bowl is shot from it, but we are not certain how to proceed from here. We have been to the other house on the hill and figure it is for later in the game. And we have been to the ships and figure it may be next after we stop the catapult and get more sailors to join us. Can you tell us what and how to stop the catapult if it is indeed the next step? Thank you. Kathy

What you should be doing is this,
Make sure you have got the tire thingy and the bowl of Kudu Jerky Pretzels (also for a good laugh go and try and jump off the cliff at the governer's mansion, "Goodbye cruel adventure game"... hahha), next you need to walk back to the governers mansion, walk to the funny looking cactus on the right side of the mansion and use the inner tube with the funny looking cactus. Then run back to the catapult guy andgive him a K.J. Pretzel. Quickly put the pretzels back in your inventory, and simply tinker with the catapult controls. You don't need to use anything with the catapult as it is okay as it is. Then just watch the fireworks. Hope this solves your problem.

Got a question, but not a problem. I've beaten the game and didn't really encounter any problems, but one thing's been bugging me. When I was in the prosthetics shop (before I finally got the fake skin) I ended up getting all of the other prosthetics as well. On a whim, I started combining them all. When I was done, Guybrush announces "At last, my creation is complete!" and the new item is called "Abomination of Nature". If you use it, he just tosses it out, screams "It's alive!" and then it falls apart. Do you know if this thing has any significance anywhere? It includes the head, guts, heart, liver, stomach, butt, and foot. Thanks, Steve

This part of the game has no significance to the plot at all, and you don't need to worry about it. It is simply one of those small extra's that LucasArts like to include in their games. Nothing more!

What you do is you get the weedwhipper from the gears in the mine, and whip the weeds near the lava pool where you got off the matrimonial ride to access the other half of the island. Once the weeds are whipped, the lava will flow into the mine and into the gear room. You now can use the gubernatorial seal in the monkey head.

I must do something wrong because i am the only one who has the problem ... the clock never points to an hour which is in guidance map to find the house ... and i keep ending up in the same place.

I don't know if you got your problem solved yet but, when you are in the swamp, use the chessclock with the raft, a clock appears in your lower right corner, check what time it shows e.g 12:15 check on the medicine chart and figure out what letter is combined with the time on the clock. on my medicine chart (don't know if it's the same in every copy of the game) it says, 12:15N this means that you should steer your raft to the north, in the next screen the clock will show another time, read the clock and look up the letter from the chart... can't explain it any simpler.. /anders

Help me. This is drivin me flippin' nuts. I'm playing Escape From Monkey Island. How do you get full marks at the diving competition? I've tried diving like that Marco dude but the wise old guy keeps telling me my head is too flat. How can I get my head to be pointy?
Solution
In order for your head to be pointy you simply need to put on the dunce cap before you dive. After that perform exactly the same moves as Marco and you should win the trophy.

I am in the swamp and have been able to see future guybrush who gives me stuff. I then manage to find my way to the future but are unable to give stuff back to him cos I cannot access my inventory.

hello. you have asked for help with the painting in the bar on Melee island. First you pick up the chopsticks on the table. Sit down, and talk to the waitress. Order the flaming scuttlefish. I too have had the same problem reguarding getting Herman to remember anything. I have however found a way around this "bug?". The problem occurs when you try and throw anything other than the correct items (coconut, milk bottle & accordion) at Herman, or *any* item in the wrong order. The best way to prevent yourself from getting suck is to make sure you have the coconut, milk bottle and the accordion *before* you throw anything. Then throw the coconut and talk to Herman. Followed by the milk bottle and talk to Herman again. And Finally the accordion and talk again and all will be well. Its anoying because I had to reload an old saved game and redo a number of things in order to get this bit right. I guess they didn't pay the playtesters enough. To combine objects together you have to find the object you want in the inventory screen then press U then scroll across to find the item you wish to use it with and then press enter.
